SLK Owners Club UK Terms & Conditions
Welcome to the SLK Owners Club UK website.
These Terms & Conditions govern your use of our website, Club membership, online services, event bookings and purchases made through the website.
By using this website, applying for membership, booking an event or placing an order, you agree to the terms that apply to that activity.
Nothing in these Terms & Conditions affects any statutory rights you may have under UK law.
1. About the SLK Owners Club
The SLK Owners Club UK is an independent owners’ club for enthusiasts and owners of Mercedes-Benz SLK and SLC vehicles.
Website: slkownersclub.co.uk
Email: info@slkownersclub.co.uk
Postal address: [INSERT CLUB CORRESPONDENCE ADDRESS]
The SLK Owners Club is an independent organisation and is not Mercedes-Benz, Mercedes-Benz Group AG or an official representative of Mercedes-Benz unless expressly stated otherwise.
References to vehicle manufacturers, model names and trademarks are used for identification and informational purposes.
2. Using Our Website
You may use this website for lawful personal purposes and to access the information and services made available by the Club.
You must not knowingly:
- use the website for unlawful, fraudulent or malicious purposes;
- attempt to gain unauthorised access to the website or another member’s account;
- interfere with the operation or security of the website;
- introduce viruses, malware or other harmful material;
- scrape or systematically extract website content without permission;
- impersonate another person or provide deliberately false information;
- use Club facilities to harass, threaten or abuse another person; or
- use Club information for unsolicited commercial communications.
We may restrict access where reasonably necessary to protect the Club, its members or its systems.
3. Club Membership
Membership is subject to the membership options, prices and conditions displayed when you apply.
Applicants must provide accurate and current information.
Membership is personal to the registered member and should not be transferred or shared unless expressly permitted by the Club.
Membership benefits may include access to member-only information, events, discounts, technical resources, community facilities and other benefits made available from time to time.
Specific benefits may change as the Club develops its services.
4. Membership Fees and Renewals
Membership fees will be displayed before payment is made.
Where membership is provided for a fixed period, your membership will remain active for that period unless terminated earlier in accordance with these Terms.
Where automatic renewal is offered, the renewal arrangements and applicable charges should be clearly disclosed before you agree to them.
We will not introduce an additional charge without informing you where applicable.
Members are responsible for keeping their contact and payment information current.
5. Cancellation of Membership
Your statutory cancellation rights depend upon the nature of the membership or service purchased and the circumstances in which the contract was entered into.
Where a statutory cooling-off period applies to an online service contract, consumers will generally have 14 days from entering into the contract to cancel. If you expressly request that services begin during that period, different rules may apply to services already provided. GOV.UK
To request cancellation, contact:
This section does not restrict any cancellation or refund rights provided by law.
6. Member Accounts
Certain areas of the website may require a registered account.
You are responsible for:
- providing accurate account information;
- maintaining the confidentiality of your login details;
- using a strong and secure password; and
- notifying us if you believe your account has been compromised.
You must not deliberately allow another person to impersonate you using your account.
We may temporarily suspend an account where reasonably necessary to investigate suspected misuse or a security issue.
7. Member Conduct
The Club aims to maintain a friendly and welcoming community.
Members participating in Club activities or online community areas are expected to behave reasonably and respectfully towards other members, volunteers, organisers, venues and members of the public.
The Club may take proportionate action where a member seriously or repeatedly breaches Club rules, misuses Club facilities or behaves unlawfully.
Depending on the circumstances, this may include a warning, restriction of particular facilities or termination of membership.
Any such decision should be made reasonably and in accordance with applicable Club rules and consumer law.
8. Events, Meetings and Club Activities
The Club may organise or promote meetings, driving events, shows, tours, social activities and other events.
Specific event terms, prices and requirements displayed when booking form part of your booking.
Event arrangements may occasionally need to change because of circumstances outside the Club’s reasonable control, including severe weather, venue issues, road closures or safety concerns.
Where an event is cancelled or materially changed, the Club will provide information about the options available to affected participants.
For leisure services taking place on a specific date or during a specific period, the standard statutory 14-day cancellation right does not generally apply. GOV.UK
Any additional cancellation or refund policy offered for a particular event will be shown with that event.
9. Driving Events
Participation in a Club driving event does not remove a driver’s normal legal responsibilities.
Drivers are responsible for ensuring that:
- they hold an appropriate valid driving licence;
- their vehicle is legally permitted to be used on the road;
- appropriate insurance is in place;
- the vehicle is roadworthy;
- applicable tax and MOT requirements are satisfied; and
- they comply with road traffic laws.
Club road events are not an invitation to race, exceed speed limits or drive dangerously.
Each driver remains responsible for their own vehicle and driving decisions.
10. Technical Information and Advice
The website and Club community may contain technical information, maintenance suggestions and advice contributed by members or other third parties.
This material is intended as general information and owner-to-owner guidance.
Vehicle condition, specification and circumstances vary. You should use appropriate judgement and obtain professional assistance where necessary.
Nothing published by the Club should be treated as a substitute for professional mechanical, engineering, safety or legal advice.
Nothing in these Terms excludes liability where it would be unlawful to do so.
11. Merchandise and Online Orders
Where merchandise or other goods are available through the website, the description and price displayed when you order will apply to that purchase.
Prices and applicable delivery charges will be shown before you complete your order.
An order confirmation does not necessarily mean that an order has been accepted if, for example, an obvious pricing error has occurred or the item is unexpectedly unavailable.
Where an order cannot be fulfilled, the Club will contact the purchaser and provide an appropriate refund where payment has already been taken.
UK online-selling rules require businesses to provide consumers with clear information about products, total prices, delivery charges and contractual arrangements. GOV.UK
12. Delivery
We aim to dispatch merchandise within the timeframe stated when ordering.
Delivery estimates are estimates unless a particular delivery date has expressly been agreed.
Under applicable UK rules, goods purchased online should generally be delivered within 30 days unless a different period has been agreed. GOV.UK
Please ensure that your delivery address is correct before submitting an order.
13. Returns and Refunds
Where you purchase goods online as a consumer, you will normally have a statutory right to cancel within 14 days after receiving the goods, subject to applicable exceptions. After notifying the seller of cancellation, goods generally need to be returned within a further 14 days. GOV.UK
Returned goods should be handled only as reasonably necessary to establish their nature, characteristics and functioning.
Certain goods may be excluded from the normal cancellation right, including goods made to a customer’s specification or clearly personalised. Legislation.gov.uk
Nothing in this section affects your statutory rights in relation to faulty, misdescribed or otherwise non-conforming goods.
Contact info@slkownersclub.co.uk before returning an item so that appropriate instructions can be provided.
14. Prices and Payments
Prices shown on the website will be displayed in pounds sterling unless otherwise stated.
Any applicable delivery charges or mandatory fees should be displayed before an order is completed.
Payments may be processed by third-party payment providers. Their own terms and privacy practices may also apply to their services.
The Club does not intend to store full payment-card information where transactions are handled by an external payment processor.
15. Discounts and Approved Suppliers
The Club may provide information about discounts, approved suppliers or other third-party benefits.
Unless expressly stated otherwise, those businesses operate independently from the Club.
Offers may be subject to the supplier’s own terms, availability and eligibility requirements.
The existence of a Club discount, advertisement or supplier listing does not remove the member’s responsibility to decide whether a particular product or service is suitable for them.
16. Third-Party Websites
The website may contain links to websites and services operated by third parties.
Links are provided for convenience and information.
The Club does not control third-party websites and is not responsible for their content, availability, security, privacy practices or contractual terms.
You should review the relevant third party’s terms before purchasing or providing personal information.
17. Website Content
We aim to keep information on the website useful and reasonably accurate.
However, information may occasionally become outdated or contain errors.
Vehicle specifications, technical information, event information, supplier details and other third-party information should therefore be independently verified where important.
We may update, correct or remove website content when appropriate.
18. Intellectual Property
Unless otherwise stated, content created for the SLK Owners Club website, including Club branding, original text, graphics, photographs and website materials, is owned by or licensed to the Club.
You may view and print reasonable portions of the website for personal, non-commercial use.
You must not reproduce, sell, republish or commercially exploit substantial Club-owned content without permission.
Third-party trademarks, photographs and other intellectual property remain the property of their respective owners.
19. User-Submitted Content
Where members are permitted to submit photographs, comments, articles or other material, they must have the necessary rights or permission to provide that material.
You remain responsible for content you submit.
By voluntarily providing material specifically for Club publication, you grant the Club permission to use it for the purpose for which it was submitted, subject to applicable law and any separate agreement made with you.
We may remove material that is unlawful, infringes another person’s rights or materially breaches Club rules.
20. Liability
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.
Subject to applicable law, the Club is not responsible for losses that were not reasonably foreseeable when the relevant contract was formed or losses arising from matters outside its reasonable control.
If you are acting as a consumer, your statutory rights remain unaffected.
Consumer contract terms must be fair and transparent, and unfair exclusions of liability may be unenforceable under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. GOV.UK
21. Privacy and Personal Information
Personal information is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
The Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how it is used, how long it may be retained and your data-protection rights.
A separate Cookie Policy may also apply to technologies used on the website.
22. Availability of the Website
We aim to keep the website available and functioning correctly but cannot guarantee uninterrupted access.
Access may occasionally be unavailable because of maintenance, technical problems, security incidents or circumstances outside our reasonable control.
We may modify or update website features where reasonably necessary.
23. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms & Conditions to reflect changes to Club services, website functionality or applicable legal requirements.
The latest version will be published on this page together with its Last updated date.
Where a material change affects an existing paid membership or other ongoing consumer contract, we will deal with that change fairly and in accordance with applicable law rather than treating publication of new terms as automatically overriding existing contractual rights.
24. Governing Law
These Terms & Conditions are governed by the applicable laws of the United Kingdom.
If you are a consumer, you will retain any mandatory rights concerning which courts may hear a dispute, including rights applicable in the part of the UK where you live.
25. Complaints
If you are unhappy with a Club service, membership matter, purchase or event booking, please contact us so that we can investigate the issue.
Email: info@slkownersclub.co.uk
We will aim to deal with complaints fairly and within a reasonable period.
